The pupils of the Dora Jackson School of Dancing compete in the 1960 Classical Dance Festival in Scarborough. Fifties rock 'n' roll meets classical ballet with the arrival of Dora's ex-boyfriend Clifford and a mysterious ghost.
John meets Susan at a party and they return to his flat in order that she can call a taxi. John's brash neighbour Denny makes his own assumptons, and investigates. He is reluctant to leave John's flat and a fierce rivalry develops.
